Artykuł przedstawia aktualną sytuację przewozu towarów w Europie, kładąc nacisk na zalety transportu łączonego. Zawiera także porównanie cech ekonomicznych poszczególnych systemów transportu, jednostkowe koszty poszczególnych systemów oraz ekologiczne znaczenie transportu łączonego. Przedstawia jednostkowe zużycie energii i emisji substancji szkodliwych przez poszczególne systemy.

The paper presents actual position of freight transport in Europe, lays stress upon the combined transport advantages, combined transport economic preferences in comparison with other transport systems, presents transport unit costs and ecological importance of the combined transport, express the share of individual modes in energy consumption and noxious substance emissions.

The current possition and perspecives of the integrated transport systems in Slovak Republic
The paper deals with current state of integrated transport systems in the Slovak Republic (SR). There is an analysis of legislative framework of transport system (ITS), description of ITS attributes, advantages and disadvantages of ITS operating in SR in the paper. The paper also points out underlying technical conditions necessary for existence of ITS, which should be established in SR in order to increase the number of ITS projects in cities and regions in SR.
